REVIEW BY GENI McCALLUM AT FAMILY TIMES MAGAZINE
I prefer to buy a gift for the Mother at a Baby Shower, after all, they’re the ones who need a treat for themselves.
Our readers were asked what they would buy (or want gifted to them) when/if they were pregnant. This series will be a review of those traditional (and not so traditional) gift ideas. I’d also like to note that any type of parent (step, guardian, miscarried, gay, adoptive etc.) can have love showered upon them, whether it’s a coupon for babysitting, a homemade lasagne, voucher or well timed phone call – it will be appreciated.
Shower the Mum: Pamper You - Pedicure
It might seem a little strange to those who live outside of Christchurch, that Pamper You is located in a studio behind a house in the suburbs. This has become a frequent occurrence post-earthquakes and works particularly well for boutique businesses in the beauty therapy industry. This lovely little studio is all about the personal, relaxing experience that often gets overlooked with the bigger beauty franchises.
I walked in to be greeted by the lovely Margie, who has a gift for making you feel instantly at-ease and safe in her hands. I didn’t mention it to her at the time, but I am intensely ticklish and have had pedicures in the past where I almost inadvertently kicked the therapist in the head. It later reminded me of a scene, in a 90’s Meg Ryan film, where her love interest instigates an argument to counteract her fear of flying. Margie and I became so deeply entrenched in happy conversation that I didn’t feel one tickle, the entire time.
My feet were an embarrassing mess walking in – neglected toenails, dry feet and ugly grown-out purple nail polish. I walked out not only feeling relaxed, but with gorgeous little, perfectly painted, pastel pink tootsies. Pamper You gave me an experience I would love to gift to my friends and family – particularly those with sore, puffy, unreachable, pregnant feet.

As a traveller in New Zealand, I was pleased to find Pamper You. I found the services to be fairly and
affordably priced and I loved the natural products that Margie used.
When I arrived, Margie was professional, kind and skilled. Her studio was refreshing and bright, yet calming.
I received a pedicure and my first facial and am so pleased to have pretty feet for these hot NZ summer days?
I felt the services were the perfect amount of time and Margie is clearly gifted at what she does.

Pamper You is a wonderful find! I have been going to Margie for over a year now, and the service she provides really does make you feel ‘pampered’. She is conscientious and pays such extraordinary attention to detail that you know you are getting top service for a great price.
I used to just book in for a wax, but lately she has given me pedicures also. If you haven’t had one of these, I fully recommend it! I come out relaxed and my feet look good for weeks afterwards - she has me hooked!

I have been having facials and eyebrow shaping with Margie Davidson for the past seven months. To me, it is a very affordable and beneficial luxury. My skin feels rejuvenated and beautifully soft and you leave feeling so relaxed.

Since using Sukin products for my skin and hair, I have been very impressed with the positive comments on how good my hair is
looking now.
I can also feel an improvement with the texture of my skin, as it feels much more hydrated and softer.
Thanks, Margie, for recommending it.

Since Margie began her own Beauty Therapy Business I have spray tans, facial, eyelash tints and eyebrow shaping. She always impresses me with her professionalism, importantly balanced with a relaxed friendliness and the ability to do everything asked of her well.
Her venture into Beauty therapy began in a spare room in her house and is now in a completely separate and beautifully furnished studio that is very assessable and light.
I enjoy reading the quotes on her street billboard, the glass of water always available and the little bunch of flowers she often gives clients at the end of a session.

Wow, I had my brows done by Margie and a facial. There’s a lot to be said for having a professional job done. There is no comparison. And by the time I had driven to Margie’s and home again I would have only completed one eyebrow if I were doing them myself. It was actually more time and cost effect to go to Margie.
She knows what I need even better than me because she takes the time to understand my needs. I had never had a facial before and after Margie did mine, wow who would have thought that skin could feel so great? I can be demanding, but Margie is always pleased to fit me into her very busy schedule, even after-hours.

As a busy business owner, having flexible times and her mobile service makes fitting in a little time for me much easier.
A great first impression is a must in business, and Margie has various ways to make you look and feel your very best!
Always a pleasure, and a great way to relieve business stress!

I purchased a gift voucher, for a pedicure, from Pamper You for my Mum for Mother's Day. Margie provided an excellent service at a time convenient to my Mum and did a great job, not only on the pedicure but also providing a friendly and professional service.

After my arm was burnt by contact with a motorcycle exhaust pipe. Instead of ending up as crinkly and wrinkly as a crocodile skin the scar tissue is smooth and soft as a baby's bum.
